I really wanted to give this 5 stars but build quality issues have left me frustrated at what could have been.

I won’t do an in depth review here as the subject matter has been covered by those more knowledgeable than me.

I will just cover my experiences and thoughts.

Setting up this monitor was simple enough with the usual options of DisplayPort and HDMI plus a VGA connection (which is not what recommended here).

Picture quality out of the box is gorgeous and needed only minor adjustments from the menu.

Ultrawide takes a little getting used to but is wonderful for gaming and very cool for watching films – no black bars at the top and bottom – yay!

No sound, so have external speakers available.

Gripes.
It always feels a little flimsy. The plastic feels cheap and the stand does not feel the most robust. However, once in place you are unlikely to move a monitor very often.

The menu for picture settings is fiddly and not at all easy to use. A classic case of the software guys not getting feedback from actual users before implementation.

So what happened to mark down the score so much?
Simply it just stopped working one day, without warning.
My lad was playing on it and I was watching and it just shut down.
A check with a multimeter quickly confirmed the power supply was fine do the issue was in the monitor itself.
Thankfully it a inside the Amazon return window by 1 DAY so return was done and that was that.

Some investigation later online found I was not alone in this.

This is a shame. I have had Viewsonic monitors previously and they were excellent. I just think they made a monitor that was not quite up to the job with components used.
Maybe going in at a slightly higher price point with better components next time?

So the outcome of this review?

Go buy a Dell monitor. Yes it is more expensive (buy second hand if it helps the budget) but they are so well put together using quality parts and have fantastic displays.
